There are multiple ways we support and encourage the staff & teachers at San Jacinto Elementary School. We provide the Roaster’s coffee cart 2 or 3 times a year. We provide staff lunches at the beginning of the school year, prior to Christmas break and at the end of the school year. We also have volunteers that are mentors and mystery readers. We participate in the Fall tailgate party for students and their parents and help the cafeteria workers serve Thanksgiving lunch to students and parents. 

Preparing food bags for elementary school children to provide them with meals on the weekends. We have adopted San Jacinto Elementary School and will be feeding around 225 kids per week during the Fall & Spring semesters. Volunteers help prep the packaged food, organize the food bags and deliver the food bags each Friday to the kids at the school. You can also adopt a kid by providing $16.00 per month to feed that child on the weekends. We prepare snack packs on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM in Room 305. 

This group volunteers to build and install handicap accessible ramps to those who cannot afford one. They work together once a month on a Saturday Morning, Year Round! Lead by Jim Ziolkowski

Our Food Bank Team sorts and boxes thousands of pounds of food each month. The Food Bank helps put food on the table for thousands of people throughout the Panhandle.

The 4 downtown churches of First Baptist, Central Church of Christ, First Presbyterian and Polk Street Methodist Church have joined together over the last few years in a city wide mission offering Vacation Bible Schools at Margaret Wills and San Jacinto Elementary Schools. We have also taken on a hands on construction project such as building 5 handicap accessible ramps at homes in the area. The 4 churches also collect and distribute school supplies for the teachers at 4 elementary schools in the fall. 

Project Hope families work one-on-one with volunteer coaches in areas of Family, Faith, Education, Career, Budget, Health and Personal Issues.

Polk Street has been in mission with Another Chance House, which is a transitional long term housing for men who have been homeless, struggling with alcohol & drug addictions or veterans who find themselves without a place to live. The Polk Street Methodist Men periodically prepare and serve a breakfast to the residents and have a time of fellowship with them. Annually the church holds a meal fundraiser to help in raising needed financial support for this vital ministry.
